About Us
CUPE 38 acknowledges that the land on which its members live and work is the traditional territory of the Treaty 7 nations, including the Blackfoot Confederacy (Siksika, Kainai, Piikani), the Tsuut’ina Nation, and the Lethka Nakoda Wicastabi First Nation (Bearspaw, Chiniki, Wesley), homeland to the historic Northwest Metis and Metis Nation of Alberta, Region. We recognize the historical and enduring connections of Indigenous peoples to this land.
We express our respect for the diverse Indigenous cultures and contributions to our community. CUPE 38 is committed to fostering meaningful relationships with Indigenous communities, acknowledging the impact of colonization, and working towards reconciliation. As we conduct our union activities, we strive to be mindful of the ongoing struggles for Indigenous rights and the importance of building a more inclusive and equitable future together. By acknowledging the land and its Indigenous history, we affirm our commitment to reconciliation and shared responsibility for the well-being of all who call this land home.
